Community Involvement: Americas Our ICL businesses in the Americas support various charitable organizations through philanthropic efforts and community engagement. ICL’s charitable contributions in the Americas include cash and in kind donations to a variety of charitable organizations, social services, and community organizations.
ICL supports numerous charitable organizations in the communities in which ICL employees live and work including: the St. Louis, Missouri metro area; Rancho Cucamonga, California; Kamloops, Canada; Lawrence, Kansas; Dublin and Summerville, Ohio; Hammond, Indiana; and Gallipolis Ferry and South Charleston, West Virginia.
- Volunteerism by Employees: ICL facilitates community engagement by organizing volunteer opportunities and programs for employees. Each year, the Company’s employees give hundreds of hours of their time in volunteer services. Employees team up to beat Childhood Cancer for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital Run/Walk, cooked dinner for families of ill children at the Ronald McDonald House, collection drives for needy families and veterans, performing light yard work and painting for homes of those with disabilities, and the collection and distribution of over 5,000 pounds of food to those in need.
- Health & Welfare: Community involvement occurs through numerous welfare organizations, such as United Way, American and Canadian Red Cross, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Arbor Day Foundation, Firefighters Quest, St. Louis Area Food Bank, VA (Veterans) Hospital, Nurses for Newborns, Lutheran Senior Services, Easter Seals Midwest, Winter Coat Drive, the Ronald McDonald House, BackStoppers, Operation Christmas Child (Canada), Coats for Folks (Canada), and many more.
- Environment: ICL employees also contribute their time to the Environmental Beautification or Cleanup project in communities in the U.S. and to the Canada Shore cleanup.
- Community and Education: Each year, the Gallipolis Ferry plant hosts a Community Fun Day where they sponsor an open house for the community to come to the plant and enjoy food, games and fellowship. This day is done to thank the community for their support of the GF plant and to let them know that we are attuned to their concerns and needs. The GF plant is also a Partner in Education with a local elementary school; providing reading days, educational materials, rewards for academic excellence and a poster contest that is used in the lobby of the school and the plant. The Lawrence, Kansas plant is also involved in a volunteer reading program in a local school near to the plant site.
