Overview
ICL is a major manufacturer of compounds used in the metal processing industry. Our self-extinguishing fluids are used in special hydraulic systems of furnaces for aluminum and steel melting, and as lubricants in hot metal manufacturing. ICL’s phosphoric acid, phosphate coatings, and phosphate specialties play a critical role in metal treatment and processing, where they are used to clean and improve surface appearance and improve hardness and electrical properties. They also provide corrosion resistance and enhance the adhesion of paint to metal surfaces. Potassium chloride is used to manufacture potassium hydroxide, potassium metal, and more.

Domains

Functional fluids
ICL’s Fyrquel line of self-extinguishing phosphate ester fluids, which are dictated by fire risk considerations, are used in special hydraulic systems of furnaces for aluminum and steel melting; and for lubricant applications, often used in power plants and hot metal manufacturing. Our phosphate esters are also used as functional additives in industrial and aviation fluids.
Metal treatment
ICL’s phosphoric acid and phosphate specialties play a critical role in metal treatment, a key aspect of the metal industry. The treatment of metal surfaces with phosphoric acid or phosphate salts provides a phosphate coating of insoluble metal phosphate. Phosphate coating solutions can be applied either by spray or immersion, depending on the application and coating weight desired.

Potassium chloride
ICL is a global supplier of potassium chloride, which has many industrial applications, for instance, it is used to manufacture potassium hydroxide and potassium metal.
