Renewable Energies and Energy Efficiency: Advancing Towards Net Zero

Our Mission

At ICL, we are pioneering next-generation renewable energies and energy efficiency technologies while transforming our industrial operations to meet ambitious emissions reduction and decarbonization goals. Through the strategic adoption of AI-driven automation, IoT integration, circular economy initiatives, and hybrid microgrids powered by renewable energies, ICL is significantly reducing its environmental footprint while setting a dynamic roadmap for sustainable industrial transformation.

How We Are Achieving Net Zero

The urgent need to reduce emissions, meet global climate targets and accelerate the transition to renewable energies requires both strategic vision and systematic implementation. ICL is committed to achieving Net Zero by 2050 and a 30% reduction in Scope 1 & 2 GHG emissions by 2030, using 2018 as a baseline year.

These ambitious targets are being achieved through innovation at every level, including the development and deployment of new energy efficiency technologies tailored to ICL’s unique industrial requirements.

ICL’s Decarbonization Roadmap is built on transparency, standardized methodologies, and measurable progress:

All major decarbonization and energy efficiency initiatives are aligned with ISO 50001 certification to ensure rigorous energy management standards.

ICL aims to achieve 100% ISO certification for relevant plants by 2030.

New projects—ranging from waste-to-energy solutions and circular economy initiatives to energy storage and green hydrogen production—are evaluated based on strict performance KPIs.

Sustainable purchasing systems and engineering designs incorporate energy-efficient criteria from the outset.

Flagship Energy Initiatives Driving Change

ICL’s Ambition Creates Excellence (ACE) Program

ICL’s Ambition Creates Excellence (ACE) Program is a company-wide initiative that drives systematic energy efficiency improvements across all ICL operations. This program develops standardized energy efficiency methodologies for all ICL plants and ensures that best practices in energy management are implemented consistently.

Green Sdom Project: A Renewable Energy Hub

A key component of ICL’s renewable energies strategy is the Green Sdom Project, a large-scale renewable energy initiative transforming the ICL Dead Sea industrial plant into a high-tech hub for renewable energy production.

Solar photovoltaic (PV) systems deployed on desert salt flats are generating approximately 1,600 MWp of energy.

The project reduces dependency on fossil fuels while significantly cutting industrial emissions.

Developing the Future of Clean Energy and Storage

Beyond transforming its own industrial footprint, ICL is actively contributing to the development of next-generation battery materials and energy storage solutions. These advancements enable industries and consumers worldwide to reduce their emissions, further amplifying the impact of ICL’s clean energy leadership.

Aligning with Global Climate Policy and the UN SDGs

ICL’s commitment to renewable energies and emissions reduction aligns with international climate agreements and frameworks, including:

SDG 7
Affordable and Clean Energy
SDG 9
Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure

SDG 13
Climate Action

By integrating these frameworks into our energy efficiency and decarbonization strategies, ICL is ensuring that its innovations contribute to a cleaner, more sustainable future.

Leading the Global Renewable Energy Transition

ICL is at the forefront of the renewable energies revolution, not just through internal emissions reduction and energy efficiency improvements, but also by pioneering the next wave of clean energy solutions. Our investments in green hydrogen, advanced fertilizers, and energy storage technologies are shaping industries beyond our own.

By committing to Net Zero, scaling up renewable energies, and prioritizing energy efficiency, ICL is setting new industry standards—leading the way toward a sustainable, low-emissions future.
